Daphnoretin, a natural product isolated and purified from the roots of Wikstroemia indica (Linn.) C. A. Mey., has strong antiviral activity, mainly on the later phase of the replication cycle. Daphnoretin also has anticancer effects on leukemia, osteosarcoma and uterine cervix cancer cells, might through promoting apoptosis in a mitochondria-mediated way.
